IT IS NOT CHRISTMAS THAT HAS CHANGED When the bells chime at Christmas time In the bleakness of dark December We think of the joy in each girl and boy Or at least we try to remember Each Christmas we've known and the kindness that was shown At Christmas time each year Still we hear every day what all of the people say And it fills our heart with such fear Yet that first Christmas night while wise men saw light Others saw only a star The king, had he known, as he sat on his throne (For the manger was not far) Would have gone quite wild at the thought of this child And would have thwarted God's will. Yet they knew not their danger as they welcomed each stranger Even shepherds were wonder filled. If you've lost the song because of all of the wrong That circles the world today Think of what shepherds saw that lay in the straw. What did they think or say? Can a child so weak even if he could speak Give them hope for their tragic despair For Mary's small boy was the hope and the joy To which none can ever compare So in Millennium Two in what ever you do Let nothing cause you distress For God, Himself, will you keep like the Shepherd His sheep And Bethlehem's Babe can still bless! Cling tightly to Him should your hope grow dim For it is He that is holding you For you know at length that it is not your strength But His Power that will see you through! 12/24/99 gvs@idt.net
