How to stay happy with your boss Tell me my friend, if you can, How it is that mortal man Can change respect into disgust, Change confidence into distrust? Now, this Jesus said one sunny day As he taught others along the way That between the dawn and the night Wrong can grow from what was Right. When workmen struck a deal with him They turned to each other with a grin For with the promise of good pay They could work for him the live long day! Yet when that night, as dark came down, Their little grin turned to a frown. The Master, who once was good, Was then completely misunderstood. He gave to all the very same pay Those who worked an hour -- or all day. Now, how was it that the amount was right In the morning, but not at night? If the man was good when they signed on What made that man seem so wrong? Did he fail to do what he said he would That the Owner now was no longer good? It was his grace that did him in, It was his kindness that made them sin. For he did not do what they had expected And that was the reason he was rejected! Had they not know what the others got They would have been happy, would they not? It was COMPARISON that brought them pain! Let us not make that mistake again. Mat 20:1-16 by GHVS 9/18/99
