Ho Everyone that Thirsts Isaiah 55: 1-9 by Dr. Van Have you ever been thirsty, your throat so dry Your lips so parched you thought you'd die When you felt such pain, you could not think You'd sell your soul for just one drink? Have you ever found life so void of meaning That happiness was more like dreaming As days passed slowly and so did time What would you give for a drink of wine? When you were a babe in you mother's arms Safe from all of life many harms As you lay in a gown made of silk What would you give for mother's milk? Now here is God calling to all mortal men Asking them to come to Him For He has water, milk and wine He has a feast where you may dine. What does he charge for such a prize? How may one get it before he dies? Come, He says for it belongs to Him, The water that washes away all sin. Come, He cries in the rush of living For it is fine wine that He is giving. Come, He calls for it is in His power now To give you milk not from a cow. But from the pages of His book You can have it if you look For there you will find why it is free. The price was paid for you and me Not with gold dug from some mine, Not for service done in time, But on a cross the debt was laid And the final cost was paid. So come to Jesus as your king In your hand no price to bring But freely take what He has proffered He will not refuse what He has offered Think not such low thoughts of Him His thought soar above life's din He wants you for his very own His is a gift and not a loan Do not wait until you are better For you cannot shake sin's fetter Only God can handle that task He will do it. You must ask. March 18, 2001
