When Adam was alone in the garden
God brought to him
All of His many creatures
For Adam to name them.
And thus it is with what we experience
Whether it be good or bad
Whatever we choose to call it
Will make us happy or sad.
If we call it a problem, it will seem too great.
If we call it a puzzle, then we can relate.
For a puzzle is fun to work with
We can do it night and day.
But a problem is like homework
It takes all our joys away.
For each event we experience
Can make us better or bitter
You see, it all depends
On what we call the "critter."
So what we now experience
That causes us great pain,
We can change it from a loss
By the choosing of a name.
Don't let the events defeat you
Use your God given gifts
To NAME what you experience
With a word that lifts.
And Jesus, the one God called the WORD,
Will work for you His very best
And when you've gone through the valley
You will know that you were blest.
